authors today need to think holistically.

It’s not just about writing. It’s writing, editing, pitching or self-publishing, and marketing.

You can’t be an expert in all of these things. That’s why we created….

The Happily Ever Author Club

It’s an online membership community led by developmental editing and book marketing professionals. Designed for authors who want to do their best work and actually make an impact and sell more books.

Here’s just some of what club members get:

  • Complete 20-module Story Path course

  • Weekly group calls with our fantastic developmental editors, Rachelle Ramirez and Anne Hawley, to clear your story blocks

  • Weekly group calls with our marketing expert, Sue Campbell, to gain momentum in growing your audience

  • Group work sessions led by one of our editors

  • 24/7 access to a community of fellow authors to keep you inspired

The Story You Tell Yourself Matters

  • You are capable of more than you realize.

  • Your biggest asset in your quest to be a successful author is your brain.

  • Your biggest obstacle to success as an author is … your brain.

  • The key to being a successful writer is persistence. The key to persistence is the story you tell yourself.

The Story You Write Matters

Especially if your culture tells you it doesn’t.

  • Your story will not leave you alone until you write it and put it into the world.

  • It’s your responsibility to develop your storytelling skills and build an audience, but it helps to get help.

  • You can finish your book. Your work can be great without being perfect, imperfect without being sloppy, efficient without being rushed.

The Story You Share Matters

  • All authors can find an audience.

  • Sharing your work (aka “marketing”) is a path to personal growth just as much as writing is.

  • Sharing your work is about connecting, not selling. Selling happens naturally when connection does.

our mission

our mission is to help you (finally) tell your story and live happily ever after —

or happily ever author, as we call it

Stories have power. We seek to remove the traditional barriers to writing and sharing stories to make the world more just and kind. We give you tools (not rules) to write the best story possible and then get that story into the hands of the right audience without sacrificing your vision or your morals.

Anne Hawley

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITOR

Anne Hawley is a third-generation native Oregonian, a graduate of Portland State University. When she's not editing stories, she's writing them, reading them, researching them, or analyzing them on The Editor Roundtable Podcast. She specializes in helping writers discover the heart of the story they’re trying to tell so that they can tell it more beautifully. She can often be seen riding her Dutch bike Eleanor around Portland. She's the author of Restraint, a love story set in 19th Century London.

Rachelle Ramirez

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITOR, GHOSTWRITER

Rachelle Ramirez has extensive experience helping new and bestselling writers structure and finish their projects. She’s one of the world’s foremost experts on Story Types. Her additional qualifications for helping you with your story are a handful of mostly useless degrees and certifications in psychology (MA), creative writing (MFA), grant writing, education, editing, and ADHD coaching. Rachelle specializes in editing memoirs, self-improvement works, and fiction with complex story structures, especially those intended as catalysts for social justice.
